Just like you, I didn’t want to give my baby chocolate yet (he wasn’t even weaned before his first Easter, so that really was a no go!), but I had family members who wanted to get him an Easter gift. So I began searching and searching and searching.
What was available for a baby at Easter that would actually make a good gift?
Clothing - yes, cute, but he’d grow out of it in a few weeks (and also, how long can you really get away with dressing your baby as the Easter Bunny for once Easter is over?)
Wooden Toys - I get they have their place for plastic reduction, but have you ever seen a newborn baby with a stacking toy? A wooden block? They’re pointless.
Books - yes, a lovely addition to a gift but your baby really needs to be 3+ months before they can be enjoyed
A Cuddly Toy - perfectly fitting for the theme, but if it isn’t interactive, then I know it’s just another toy that’ll end up on the nursery shelf
So I left it. I said we’d just wait until next year and he was a bit older and could have an Easter Egg. But isn’t that such a shame? We couldn’t mark his first Easter because there was just nothing that was age appropriate.
This played on my mind heavily when I was building Joyful Jellybean whilst on maternity leave. I knew I wanted themed boxes for day-to-day playtime but what about the seasons? What about the special moments throughout the year that young babies don’t get to celebrate too because there’s just nothing around that’s suitable for them?
Ok, so there we have it... An Easter Box was on the list!
The idea was planted and then came the research… 6 months of research. I ended up having to source products from all over the world in order to find toys that were right for what I wanted to offer. Sure, I could have been done in a few weeks if I wasn’t too fussed about safety standards or the toys being actually any fun, but that’s absolutely not what I’m about.
Joyful Jellybean wouldn’t have gotten off the ground in the first place unless I could source toys that were CE certified, safe, non-toxic, beautiful to look at, fun to play with and age appropriate. I had high expectations of what I wanted because when it comes to our babies, there is no room for sub-par products.
But I did it. I researched the world and I found the best baby toys that when curated together give that feeling of springtime and Easter, and I am so pleased with them! If only I’d have had this box when my son was 4 months old for his first Easter…
Our Easter baby toy box is the ideal gift for your baby’s first (or second, or third!) Easter, because the toys are interactive, age-appropriate and fun! I hope you love the Easter baby toy box as much as I do.
