Don't get carried away, looks aren't everything!
It’s so easy to get caught up in pretty colours and toys that you think look the part, but do you know what to consider when buying for a tiny baby? We’ll help you figure it out (and it’s simple, I promise!)
First things first… All baby toys need to be played with under supervision, but before you even hand a toy to your baby, ensure it has the ‘CE’ marking on the label. This ensures that the toys are safe to be played with by anyone under the age of 14. This label also gives you peace of mind that the toys do not contain any toxic materials that could cause long-term damage.
Secondly, are they even fun? Toys that come with a red flag for me are those that look pretty and might be cute, but they don’t actually do anything. For babies who are still learning basic skills, you need your toys to be entertaining in very primal ways. Interactive details such as internal bells chimes and rattles help to develop cause and effect and are just as fun whether your baby is laid down or running around, so work for all ages.
Imagine how big the world must seem to a 2-month-old, so having a toy that isn’t overwhelmingly large will be beneficial for them in a multitude of ways.
Selecting toys that have safe teething details will not only be comfortable for any sore gums but also give you peace of mind that the toy is designed to be chewed and therefore can withstand even the sharpest of baby teeth!
