Can Babies Have Easter Eggs?

When I celebrated my son's first Easter, he was 5 months old. We were waiting to wean him until 6 months, so by this point, the only thing he’d ever consumed was milk. Naturally, I didn’t want the first thing he’d consume to be chocolate, so Easter Eggs were off the cards. This didn’t stop family members from asking whether he could have an Easter Egg because they wanted to buy him an Easter treat - which started to fuel the fire of Joyful Jellybean.

Easter gifting is a market that is only going to get bigger, so what can you get a baby for Easter when they’re not quite ready for Easter eggs?

Judging by the parenting pages I’m a part of, I wasn’t the only parent asking the same question: Can my baby safely enjoy Easter eggs?

From a diet standpoint, chocolate eggs are generally not recommended for babies, especially those under one year. The primary concerns are sugar content and potential allergens. Chocolates often contain high sugar levels, which aren't suitable for a baby's developing digestive system. Moreover, they can contain milk, nuts, and other allergens that are risky for young infants.

Hard-boiled eggs, on the other hand, can be introduced to babies around 6 to 9 months of age, but I’m not sure anyone who is looking to buy a baby an Easter gift would be best pleased with the suggestion of a box of eggs!

This is where the Joyful Jellybean Baby Easter gift box comes into play. The toys are all themed to suit Easter, so still feel like an Easter baby treat, but as parents you don’t need to worry about them consuming chocolate - just yet, anyway!
